Clinical Counseling Services
at The Center

Clinical Counseling services at The Center are provided by licensed providers (LCSW, LPC, Licensed Psychologists) and counselor trainees/doctoral residents seeking hours for professional licensure who provide care under the supervision of licensed clinical supervisors at the practice.

What is counseling?

It is a collaborative relationship with you and a qualified professional which is focused on reaching your personal healing and growth goals and identifying effective solutions to problems that are causing distress, emotional angst or interfering with healthy living. Counseling seeks to empower you to live the life you want to live by helping you to overcome problems, improving your coping skills, grow resiliency, learn strategies for mood management, improving communication all for the sake of improving your mental health and well-being.

How long will I need to be in counseling?

The short answer: it varies. The optimal answer is that the counseling relationship ends when you have achieved your goals and resolved the problems that originally brought you into counseling. This is individually based on each client's needs. It is also important to check with your insurance company to see if there is a limit to the number of sessions which they will cover.

How do you decide who my counselor will be?

We take into account a number of factors. We make every effort to connect you with a counselor that is best able to address your specific clinical concerns and counseling needs. The scheduling coordinators will also consider other factors such as matching you with a provider that accepts your insurance and has the scheduling availability that will best serve you (e.g.,, evenings/daytime/morning). You can request a provider based on the provider bios/profiles and we will do our best to fulfill your requests.

How do I know if I need both medication and counseling?

Your counselor is trained in identifying and assessing your clinical concerns and will make recommendations to you about the services that may best treat your diagnosed conditions. We offer a collaborative approach to our counseling services so please talk with your provider about questions regarding the services that will best help you. If you and your counselor agree that you would benefit from having a psychiatric evaluation to determine if medications could help you, The Center offers this service and your counselor can make a referral for you to meet with our prescriber.

Please call our scheduling coordinators to learn more about how clinical counseling services can help you.
